Chat Room Good Manners and Right Conduct

In online dating, chat room is one of the major sources to meet people for a possible date online. And of course, just like in Online Dating, there is also a proper manner when inside a chat room; and those are as follows:

If there is a number one rule to be applied in all chat room that is to be respectful to all the people inside (the chat room). Do not disrespect others if you don’t want to be disrespected as well. They may not be able to see your face but remember that they can track you down and do something to you.

Moreover, never use abusive words or expressions in the chat room. Threatening, attacking, embarrassing and verbally abusing chatter is a big No No. If you feel that an argument is arising, do not argue back. Instead, you can do either of the two things; ignore them or just leave the chat room.

The third rule is to be nice to the people inside the chat room. Welcome the newcomers even with a simple, “Hi!.” Do not interrupt when someone is talking. Also, do not speak if you didn’t know what the real topic is all about. Another thing that everyone should avoid is to never type using capital letters all the time. Usually, capital letters in chat rooms (or anywhere else online) mean shouting or yelling, an emphasis to a particular thing.

Furthermore, though in online dating you can remain anonymous, always remember that it is the other way around in chat rooms. Chat rooms can keep files and track down your IP. Do not start a fight if you don’t feel the room; just leave and go somewhere else. Another most common mistake people do inside chat rooms is using sexually explicit words. Even if you are looking for a sexual encounter using chat room, still and all you have to avoid using obscene languages.

One more important thing to remember in online dating is to not send the same messages over and over. You don’t want to be labeled as a spammer, do you? People inside the chat rooms are there for friendship, companion or romance, so do not abuse.

Chatting as a medium for online dating is an effective way to finding potential dates. However, all of us should take note of these proper etiquettes and use it for a better chat room experience. Then again, we shouldn’t take chat rooms too seriously. Just enjoy your time and if you find someone interesting, don’t ever let that chance pass no more.
