Mail Order Bride seems to be a new trend nowadays, and it is a label applied to a woman who publishes her intent to marry someone from another country. But this kind isn’t anything new to us anymore; we for sure have heard of Geisha girls, China Dolls, or Miss Saigons and Comfort Women, who are women being bought by a man to be his wife. However, what’s new in today’s Mail Order Bride is that payment is through the internet, though there are still agencies that produce actual paper catalogues of mail-order brides.

Moreover, what separates Mail Order Bride from the usual Online Dating is that with Mail Order Bride, you pay for the woman to be your wife and not your Miss Right Now. Also, most women from Mail Order Bride come from the different country; mostly from Asian countries or Russia. Women from these countries sell because of the stereotypes that Asian women, for example, are submissive, obedient, loyal and soft-spoken.

On the other hand, Mail Order Bride doesn’t go just like that; Mail Order Bride members go through a rigorous screening process before they tie the knot. These screening includes giving out an in-depth questionnaire (includes biographical data, information on family background, education, work experiences, character references, and other questions that concerns ideal man, views of marriage and love). Once everything is settled, the agency or the website that hosts the Mail Order Bride will set the two up for a meet up.

While most of the Mail Order Brides had their married life successful, some ended up with the wrong guy. Above all this, what matters is how we carefully choose our Mr. or Ms. Right; whether we prefer finding her/him through the internet or in the street.
