Dating is a fun game. Whether you are online dating or actual dating, it’s still an enjoyable experience. It feels good to get to know a person in actuality and share things with them. You could argue that this is not so for online dating sites but the truth is, you just don’t stop with enrolling to an online dating service, you will have to meet your online partner sooner or later. So face to face is required.
Another characteristic of dating is that they’re freakin hard to come by! It isn’t surprising that a dater would pass through the whole dating phase with a lot of rejection and disappointments. So if you’re luck enough to be on one, you might not want to screw it up. Because it may be a long time before you ever find yourself on a date again.
So to be able to secure more dates with the girl you’re dating, these are some things to consider when going on that all important first date.
First, this may seem trivial, but avoid smoking if you do. Smoking is a pretty huge turn off. Just because you do, it doesn’t mean that she does as well. Or that she’s okay with it. I mean you could ask her if she’s alright with it but then again, she may only be saying yes out of courtesy. It’s okay if she does. Smokers usually tolerate other smokers but not all non-smokers do. So better not risk it.
Another habit is drinking. A few drinks are allowed but don’t overstep your limits. A blabbering drunk never impresses anyone. You could only get to know your date well if you are sober enough so don’t play with stepping over your alcohol tolerance threshold. Besides how do you think you would like if she’s the one who ends up getting you a cab home?
Topic-wise, never talk about past relationships. You may be showing her that you’re moving on and are ready for a new relationship but the truth is that it doesn’t really send that message. It sounds more like you’re still caught up with the memories of you ex, and that is never a good thing.
You may also want to take a look at the way you dress. You don’t have to look extravagant or expensive, just look you. But be clean and appropriate. Flannel shirts and jeans aren’t always the dress protocol in places. So be sure to look the part of a confident single dating man as to not kill your date.
Don’t be nervous. It’s okay to have butterflies…or bats but don’t let that stop you! Remember your date is just as apprehensive as you are in meeting a stranger so be the man and make it comfortable for her convenience. You can’t do that if you’re stuttering and sweating like a pig you know.
Also try to keep your motives clean. Don’t go for dates just for the possibility of the lay afterwards. Actually try to get to know your date. Because as I have said before, every date is precious so you shouldn’t screw them up.
Lastly just be yourself. If you’ve been reading a lot of self-help books, tips and advices, you’re going to be thinking “redundant much?” But hey, when it comes to dating it really really works. Your choice.
